Funded opportunity - Nairobi-based logistics Team for Global Youth Environment Assembly

The United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) UNEA-5.2 takes place in hybrid format in Nairobi from 28 February – 2 March 2022, with the overall theme of “Strengthening Actions for Nature to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals”. This highlights the pivotal role nature plays in our lives and in social, economic and environmental sustainable development. The preparatory meeting for UNEA - the Open-Ended Meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives (OECPR-5.2) will take place from 21 - 25 February 2022.Immediately after UNEA-5.2, the Assembly will hold a Special Session of the Assembly on 3 - 4 March 2022, which is devoted to the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the creation of UN Environment Programme in 1972 (UNEP@50). The Children and Youth Major Group is holding a Global Youth Environment Assembly as Youth Pre-event to UNEA

As you may know, the Global Youth Environment Assembly will be hosted in a hybrid format with an in-person event held in Nairobi throughout around 7 days of sessions between 18th of February and 4th of March. The event will entail the participation of around 50 youth from all parts of the world and 100 youth from Nairobi. For the implementation of the organisation and coordination activities of logistics and local arrangements, we are opening this tendering organisation for a Nairobi-based team.

This tender entails the management and coordination of logistics for the Youth Environment Assembly in Nairobi in 18th of February to 2nd of March 2022, as well as the coordination of logistics for its participants and delivery of the event in the time leading up to. An overarching information note about the global YEA can be found here. Logistics cost for managing participants on-ground, such as airport pick-ups, hotel arrangements, DSA distribution, among other things. Major arrangements like venue, meals and accommodation are already taken care of. Tasks:

  • Arrangements of logistics for participants including local transportation, food, PCR tests or conference registration.

  • Arrangements of logistics for the conference implementation containing arrangements for and at the venue on equipment for online conferencing and in-person meetings.

  • Arrangements of visuals, banners, registration desks and any signs and material for guiding participants and arranging for a conference identity and atmosphere.

  • Arrangements of material printing, and purchases of welcome bags and smaller conferencing tools as well as their distribution during the conference.

  • Coordinations of logistics of participants including advising participants on the infrastructure in Nairobi before their arrival and arranging for their safe commute from the airport to the hotel and back.

  • Supporting participants in food arrangements and distribution of DSAs.

  • Guiding participants in their day schedules on wake-up/conference/meal and meeting timings.
