High-Level Global Conference on Youth-Inclusive Peace Processes

We are excited to share that the countdown has officially begun to the High-Level Global Conference on Youth-Inclusive Peace Processes (20-21 January 2022). The fully virtual conference is designed to celebrate and acknowledge the powerful role that young people play in building and sustaining peace around the world. This is a milestone moment for the Youth, Peace & Security (YPS) agenda globally, making it a critical opportunity to engage and familiarize new audiences with this important work. The reality is that young people all around the world — regardless of whether they are living in a conflict-affected country or not — have a valuable role to play in peace processes. The event is hosted at the initiative of the Governments of Qatar, Finland and Colombia and supported by the UN Office of the Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth, Search for Common Ground, UNDPPA, UN Women, UNDP, UNFPA, the United Network of Young Peacebuilders (UNOY), and Education Above All. Here’s how you can engage and support:
Spread the word on social media. A full Trello board is available here (https://trello.com/b/OfEzRS4w/high-level-global-conference-on-youth-inclusive-peace-processes); in addition to event assets, the toolkit also includes a number of general materials designed to help reinforce the importance of the Youth, Peace & Security agenda to audiences who may not be as familiar with it. Additional content will also be added in the lead up to the event. Make sure to use #YPSConference and #Youth4Peace in your posts.
o The easiest way to support is by using this click-to-tweet (with image) or by resharing our pinned posts on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Encourage young people to join the conversation live. Both the opening and closing ceremonies of the Conference will be streamed live via @UNYouthEnvoy — no advanced registration is required, and we encourage young people to stay tuned to our social feeds and the official conference website for more details in the coming weeks (www.un.org/youthenvoy/doha2022/).
Circulate the conference outputs to your networks. The conference will mark the launch of a high-level joint statement and guidelines in support of the country-level operationalization of the YPS agenda, as well as a five-year strategy on strengthening youth-inclusive peace processes. Both of these outputs will be important milestones for stakeholders engaging in this space, and they will be available on the conference website (with promotional assets added to the Trello) closer to the conference date.
Many thanks in advance for your support in helping to raise awareness around the important role that young people play in building and sustaining peace all around the world.
