Together with youth constituencies and organisations across the world, we  have prepared for a toolkit on how youth and youth organisations across the world can take action, especially virtually, in the lead-up to the World Environment Day 2021 and launch of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030).

We have also highlighted THEMATIC FOCUSES around which we encourage you to plan your advocacy, action and campaign!

Download the toolkit now to explore more and how you can take action for the WED 2021!

We are pleased to extend you invitation to join us at the #GenerationRestoration Youth Assembly - a virtual youth forum that will run from the 4th - 9th June 2021, organised by various youth constituencies, youth-led movements, groups and UN partners, featuring range of speakers!

Over the next days, thousands of children and youth will join us virtually to build and support the #GenerationRestoration.

It will comprise 1 to 2-hr long workshops per day on key themes; and additional independent partner events by partner organizations and agencies! This thematic focus builds-upon the conversations youth community had during the virtual Youth Environment Assembly in Feb 2021, in lead-up to UNEA 5.1.

Over the last weeks, we have worked with youth groups and UN partners from across the world in finalising arrangements for the Official Youth Task Force of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, together with Multi-Stakeholder Partners Group comprising UN agencies and other relevant organisations that would support the work of the Youth Task Force!

We invite you to this consultation on the ToR and arrangements for the same! During this consultation, we will provide a brief presentation on the topic, followed by discussion on the topic!

Read this background PPT & provide inputs to the ToR here before the session!

Engage at the fire-side chats hosted via Instagram Live hosted by UN Biodiversity account, together with Global Youth Biodiversity Network & Children and Youth MG of UNEP! This session will feature youth advocates from various youth constituencies, organisations and networks, who - in a 10 minutes slot each - will discuss range of topics from forests, climate, wetlands to meaningful youth engagement, environmental law and rights-based participation!

Concept note here

At 2019, governments and youth activists united  to sign the first-ever Intergovernmental Declaration on Children, Youth and Climate Action, supported by YOUNGO, UNICEF, UN Special Rapporteur on human rights and the environment on behalf of the Children’s Environmental Rights Initiative, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and The Elders group!

This special session would focus on (i) commitments that member states have made to advance the children rights in climate policy and (ii) explore how these commitments can be taken forward at the nation level

Session organisers: YOUNGO (youth constituency of UNFCCC), CERI (Children Environment Rights Initiative), UNICEF. Link to concept note

Together with involved youth constituencies and organisations, we have also developed set of THEMATIC FOCUSES around we encourage you plan events, advocacy moments, and submit your outcomes to feed into our work!

5th June - WED - will also mark the launch of 10-year long UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, to prevent, halt and reverse the degradation of the ecosystems. As the official launch events take around WED, we call upon youth and youth groups globally to conduct youth-led events, activities, sessions - in whichever format you feel is best. Some of the examples have also been highlighted in the toolkit!

If you are a youth or youth group wanting to organising an activity between now and 5th June, sign up below! Some select activities will also be featured as part of #GenerationRestoration Youth Forum!

We would also support your plans, and connect you with partners in your country/region (including UN agencies). More information will be sent once you sign up. It is alright to sign-up even if you are still developing your ideas.
